Evaluation of Packaging

These are my (almost) finished designs. I like these designs however whenever I copied and pasted something from Photoshop onto it there was a white boarder around it, so I had to slightly re-design my packaging so I could hide this. Hence the white squares on every side with a fray boarder. I decided to create my own bar code and add my orange, lemon & lavender into the barcode.

These are my Info-Graphics to be used on the side of my packaging:
The main ingredients in each product will feature on the packaging and these are all my own drawings done on Photoshop, which are featured below.

This will be my Point of Sale
This is what the net of my Point of Sale will look like. It has 3 shelves and a base to stand on.
I made quite a few miniature boxes to use as models for my miniature Point Of Sale

Bauhaus

German Bauhaus:
Bauen=build
Haus=house

They believed in very simplistic design and believed that beauty comes from within the object itself.
1919- Founded by Walter Gropius in Weimer, Germany
1922- Van Doesberg taught a course at Bauhaus & clearly reflected the stark simplicity and functionalism of much of the bauhaus output after that.
1925- Moved to Dessau, Germany. Into a new purpose built home which reflected the core Bauhaus values
Marcel Breuer's 'Wassily' chair. Great marriage between Art, Design and Machine Production
1926- Bauhaus Building completed
1927- Architecture department opens
1928- Gropius resigned and Hanneys Meyer took over
1929- Photography department is opened
1930- Hanneys dismissed in 1930 for bringing politics into the house and creating a haven for communism
1932- Bauhaus Dessau closed & migrated to Berlin
1933- Bauhaus disbands for good, due to Nazi's acclaiming them to be Communists & enemies of the state

Political pressure and constant scrutiny by the Nazi movement continued to cast a shadow over the school and in 1928 Gropius resigned and was succeeded by Hannes Meyer.
A socialist, he was dismissed in 1930 for bringing politics into the Bauhaus and creating a haven for
communism.

Ludwig Mies van der Rohe (1886-1969) took his place at the helm and attempted to eliminate the politics and get back to the basic principles of the movement but by 1932 the Dessau parliament had decided to dissolve the Bauhaus and although it found a temporary home in Berlin for a period, it was effectively at an end.

Art Deco

A time of massive change
Technological change

but relied on old designs

Loss of natural forms

Art Deco was coined in the 1960s, refers to a style that spanned the boom of the roaring 1920s and the bust of the Depression ridden 1930s

It drew on tradition and yet simultaneously celebrated the mechanised, modern world

It embraced both handcrafted and machine production, exclusive works of high art and new products in affordable materials

It affected all forms of design, from the fine and decorative arts to fashion, film, photography, transport and product design.

1920s

Cool Packaging

I like this creative packaging for brushes, the incorporate the brush itself into the design which I would like to try to do.
I really like the bright colours on these Schweppes bottles/cans
I love the idea of incorporating the product itself into the packaging or the ingredients. I will try something similar to this when I create my packaging.
The Dorito shapes which make up this packaging and also it makes the bag/box more stable & aesthetically pleasing
Again I really like the idea of incorporating the ingredient/flavour onto the packaging like this banana flavoured drink.

Final H&S Poster

These are my final designs for the Health & Safety posters, I decided to stick with the themes of 'Tangle Risk' and 'High Visibility Vest'.
For both posters i used my own images and super-emposed them, so I don't break copyright

For the 'Tangle risk' I used the template in which my group agreed on. I then imposed an image of my headphones tangled and ran some filters through it so it suited the template. My title is in Impact and my main text is in Helvetica

I then did the same for my 'High Visibility vest' poster so it suited the agreed template.
I have adjusted both posters so the bottom title is Impact also, and sized it better so it looks more professional and

Metamorphoses

Roman poet Ovid’s (43 BC–17 AD) 15 book poem was written in Latin and features the story of Diana, which inspired Titian's three great paintings.
Based on the theme of 'change' ('Metamorphoses' means 'transformations' in Greek), these mythical tales were as renowned in Titian's day as Bible stories, and were a popular source of inspiration for many Renaissance artists.

Metamorphosis: Titian 2012’ - featuring new work by contemporary artists Chris Ofili, Conrad Shawcross and Mark Wallinger in an unique collaboration with The Royal Ballet.

This multi-arts project, part of the Cultural Olympiad's London 2012 Festival, will draw on the powerful stories of change found in Titian’s masterpieces, revealing how these spectacular paintings continue to inspire living artists.

A multi-faceted experience celebrating British creativity across the arts, ‘Metamorphosis: Titian 2012’ brings together a group of specially commissioned works responding to three of Titian’s paintings – Diana and Actaeon, The Death of Actaeon and the recently acquired Diana and Callisto – which depict stories from Ovid’s epic poem ‘Metamorphoses’. The three paintings will be displayed together at the heart of the exhibition.

Summary: Ovid wrote poems in 43BC - 17AD which made up 15 books
These poems were then used to paint 2/3 images by Titian
Chris Ofili then recreated the painting in a more modern fashion

NewsPaper Research

Most, if not all newspapers consist of The Newspaper's Name Header, Subheading, an image and one/a few bodies of text. A lot of newspapers also contain advert(s) on the front
According to Wikipedia newspaper (often just called a paper when the context is clear) is a periodical publication containing news, other informative articles, and usually advertising. A newspaper is usually printed on relatively inexpensive, low-grade paper such as newsprint. However, a lot of newspaper companies also post their news online in an 'online newspaper' which people can read on a tablet/mobile/computer.

Agnes Cecile
Googly eyes or jiggly eyes are small plastic craft supplies used to imitate eyeballs. Googly eyes traditionally are composed of a clear, hard-plastic shell, with a smaller, black plastic disk trapped within. The inner black disc is allowed to move freely within the larger clear plastic shell, which makes the eyes appear to move when the googly eyes are tilted or shaken. Googly eyes are used for a variety of arts and crafts projects including pipe cleaner farm animals, silly sock puppets, mischievous pranks, and other creations. Googly eyes may also be attached to inanimate objects in order to give the objects a "silly" or "cute" appearance. This use often personifies the objects for a humorous effect.

Anthony Gormley

Antony Gormley is widely acclaimed for his sculptures, installations and public artworks that investigate the relationship of the human body to space. His work has developed the potential opened up by sculpture since the 1960s through a critical engagement with both his own body and those of others in a way that confronts fundamental questions of where human being stands in relation to nature and the cosmos. Gormley continually tries to identify the space of art as a place of becoming in which new behaviours, thoughts and feelings can arise.

He is an English sculptor and draughtsman. He studied archaeology, anthropology and art history at Trinity College, Cambridge (1968–71)
He Has done a series of abstract human form sculptures in which he calls 'The Hinge Series' which can be found below
